About us

The Mosaic Summer School Grado, which is open from May till October, is a non-profit institution, open to all participants, which gives an introduction to the mosaic art.

The school provides weekly courses for a total of 18 hours (3 h a day, 6 days a week), held by qualified teachers.

During the courses, the basic elements of the mosaic art will be covered including:

  • cutting and preparation of materials using the traditional hammer;
  • study of the mosaic lay-out;
  • creation of a mosaic piece proposed by the teacher using the "direct" technique.

The school also provides advanced courses of 18 hours per week, where participants can improve their abilities with the use of coloured materials.

If you want to enrich your vacation with an art experience, the Mosaic Summer School Grado represents a unique opportunity, considering also the historical heritage of mosaics in the cities of Grado and Aquileia.

Teachers

  • Michela Marcon, is a Mosaic Artist from Romans d'Isonzo (Gorizia), which has graduated from the Art Institute "Max Fabiani" of Gorizia and with a Master Degree from the "Scuola Mosaicisti di Spilimbergo". She has many years of work and teaching experience.
  • Gabriella Buzzi, is a Mosaic Artist from Capriva del Friuli (Gorizia), which has graduated from the Art Institute "Max Fabiani" of Gorizia and with a Master Degree from the "Scuola Mosaicisti di Spilimbergo". She has many years of work and teaching experience.
  • Ambra Bobiz, is a Mosaic Artist from Gorizia, which has graduated from the Art Institute "Max Fabiani" of Gorizia and with a Master Degree from the "Scuola Mosaicisti di Spilimbergo". She has many years of work and teaching experience.

Materials and Tools

At the school it is possible to buy materials and tools to continue the practice of mosaic at home. The school provides also names and addresses of specialized shops.
